The Bear by Bronius Kutavičius combines a dark fairy tale, a bloody crime story, and a psychological thriller.
Deep in a nineteenth-century forest, amidst pagan beliefs and forgotten rituals, the young Count Michał battles his dual nature. As the alleged offspring of a bestial bear attack on his mother, he seeks salvation in his love for the beautiful Julia. Will marrying his beloved soothe the inner beast, or will it pave the way for a bloody tragedy?
The performance is presented as part of a collaboration between the Baltic Opera in Gdańsk and the Klaipėda State Musical Theatre.
